Re: West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread 1-1 FT
Reid was caught between trying to cover for Collins who was one on one and bang in trouble and trying to look after his own man too.

It was a good goal by West Brom. All teams concede at times. Chelsea conceded five today. Is Gary Cahill suddenly shit because Harry Kane got the better of him today? No.

I'll go along with that, WBA well worth the point.

Re: West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread 1-1 FT
I think the goal was more the product of WBA breaking quickly and finding Sessegnon and Berahino (who have pace to burn) two on two with Collins and Reid (who don't).

Collins shouldn't have backed off Sesegnon quite so much and Reid should have got tighter to Berahino but the goal had been coming and it was the least WBA deserved.

Re: West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread 1-1 FT
I could have sworn the man Reid was assigned to mark scored, perhaps we should add James Tomkins into the mix for the goal seeing as nothing is Reid's fault.

Re: West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread 1-1 FT
You're right, their goal had nothing to do with Collins backing off like a prick. Let's blame Reid though because it'll make it easier when he leaves.

Yeah, but despite everyone inside the ground and everyone watching on TV seeing those basic errors we are all talking shit apparently.

Reid was poorly marking for their goal today, and at least one of chelseas and arsenals goal. Hes been very poor.

Our keepers made the most saves in the league, I think we need 2 good centre halfs tbh

Re: West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread 1-1 FT
Reid has had a mare involving several goals lately, today's through his legs against arsenal, looks abut lack lustre and not totally switched on.

Today's he just jogs away from their goal scorer leaving him with in loads of space to just side foot it in what was he thinking? He's a poor mans vidic a clumped, alright, but not lately, for our last ditch defending but Any body with CL aspirations or Europa cup opposition will surely steer clear!

Re: West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread 1-1 FT
Texas, how the fuck has Reid been poor this season when we are where we are in the league and he's more than played his part?

People really need to stop talking shit and get some reality back. Reid is class, that's why we all want him to stay.

DukeofDevo 11:58 Thu Jan 1
Re: West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread 1-1 FT
And now everybody knows Reid can't play out from the back is it really likely that a top team who competes in either the CL or Europa will want him.

He's a decent defender but lacks the qualities to be an Alvin Martin or A Tony Gale.

Poor display today, heartened by the line up but disappointed not to see sahko and valencia start together, carroll should not have taken part second half he was absolutely hopeless today. Thought the substitution of morgan was strange as it changed our shape pushing our danger man Sahko to the right. I think are missing Noble in midfield also, I think we're a better team with him it, he links well with song and also it alows song to play further up the pitch.

disappointing day but they happen. allardyce needs to go back to what was successful earlier in the season.

glad to see more folks agreeing with me on Reid's poor displays this season...

...and he was responsible for not picking up Berahimo for their goal...

Anyone would think we are the only side to have stuggled to be at their best over the last 6 days.
I mean just look at the results of Chelsea and the performances of Manchester City who had relatively easy holiday period on paper.

Yes you can argue with BFS selections but there seems to assumptions that say Sakho and Valencia would automatically continue their form or opponents wouldn't have worked us out by now. The reality is that the side has too many weaknesses and inconsistent players within it for opposition not to stop or exploit them once they do their homework on us.The chances are many opponents were simply not prepared properly for us early on but Aston Villa were probably the first side who actually were and we looked short of the quality to deal with that.

West Brom like Aston Villa knew pressing us when our back 4 had the ball stops the full backs getting forward and forces Song to play almost behind our centre halves to help them out, even if Sakho and Valencia had been paired I simply don't believe teams would give us the opportunity to exploit their pace so I think BFS invariably knows we will be forced mix it up at times and thinks Carroll is our best option in dealing with that.

What today brought home to me is how poor someone like Reid is on the ball and therefore it is almost impossible to play from the back with him and Collins, which as a result asks a lot a midfielder like Song or Noble who generally drop so deep to get possession it is almost if they don't trust them and probably rightly so.

We have not have had a good Holiday period but for me today is the first real disappointing performance, the reaction to the Chelsea game was a bit over the top giving very little credit to how well they played and Arsenal simply wasn't our day whereas today we were poor.
